Three episodes of its second season in its new home, Paramount+, have been enough so that “Evil”, the Robert and Michelle King series has been renewed for a third season by the ViacomCBS streaming service.

Evil, one of the best-reviewed new streaming series of the 2019-20 season, premiered on CBS, where it struggled to deliver strong ratings on its linear runs. But the dark and twisted drama has made a name for itself on digital and comes from the Kings, who helped launch Paramount+’s predecessor CBS All Access with The Good Fight, now also on Paramount+. Evil moved from CBS to Paramount+ ahead of its current second season after a strong showing in the first season on the platform, as well as on Netflix as part of a one-year promotional window deal that Evil’s production company CBS Studios made. with the global streaming service.

The Kings will continue to guide the series as part of a new overall deal they have signed with CBS Studios.

Starring Katja Herbers, Mike Colter and Aasif Mandvi, Evil is a psychological mystery that examines the origins of evil along the lines of science and religion. The series centers on a skeptical psychologist who teams up with a priest-in-training and a contractor as they investigate the church’s accumulation of unexplained mysteries, including alleged miracles, demonic possession, and ghosts. Her job is to assess if there is a logical explanation or if something truly supernatural is at play.

The second season brings evil home. Kristen (Herbers) struggles with her darker nature, while David (Colter) suffers from temptation as she draws closer to her ordination. Meanwhile, Ben (Mandvi) is visited by night terrors that feed on his greatest fears.
