An emotional message from Chicago P.D. actress Tracy Spiridakos on social media has just left fans in tears. The actress used the platform to express herself about the departure of her friend and partner, Jesse Lee Soffer, from the crime drama.

The announcement about the character’s departure occurs in the middle of the recordings of the new season and the entry of new elements to the intelligence unit led by Voight, such as Dante Torres.

Chicago P.D. is going through a tough time following the departure of Jesse Lee Soffer as Jay Halstead from the NBC drama. According to a statement published in Variety last Monday, the 38-year-old actor will leave fiction when season 10 premieres in September. At this point, it is certain that the cast already knows what the character’s fate will be, although they cannot talk about it.

In the statement published by Variety, Jesse Lee Soffer thanked each of the people who make up the Chicago P.D. family, as well as the Universal and NBC networks for having been part of all the momentum that his career got with the drama. He also thanked the fans without whom all the success would not have been possible.

After hearing the news, the first to react was Tracy Spiridakos, who plays Jay Halstead’s wife in Chicago P.D., Hailey Upton. The actress decided to use the Instagram platform to send a sad and emotional message to her partner, whom she considers a true friend on and off screen.

“I guess word gets out. Jesse, what can I say, you are absolutely the best. Thank you for your kindness, guidance and friendship. You are the best on-screen husband a girl could wish for.”

“I will miss being on set with you every day. Can’t wait to see what the world has in store for you next,” Tracy Spiridakos wrote on her Instagram.

The message was accompanied by a beautiful photo of the fictional couple, in which they can be seen inside a car, possibly recording one of the scenes of the most recent season of Chicago P.D. which will be released on September 21.

More than 3,000 fans commented on the post, expressing their sadness and bewilderment after the news of Jesse Lee Soffer’s departure as Jay Halstead from Chicago P.D. In addition, the questions related to this farewell did not wait. Everyone wants to know how this will affect Detective Hailey Upton and Jay’s brother, Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss), who is still at Chicago Med so far.

It is not yet clear how the drama will address Jesse Lee Soffer’s departure from Chicago P.D. Until last month, critics claimed that Jay Halstead would be the replacement for Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) in the police department and that this would represent a new stage for the leader of the unit.

But with the latest news, now no one can predict what he will spend in Chicago P.D. What they do fear is that they decide to kill Jay Halstead, thus giving Tracy Spiridakos’s character, Hailey Upton, a new story to tell, who would ultimately be devastated by the unfortunate loss.
