The critically acclaimed, singer-songwriter, Caloncho releases new single, “Regalo” featuring Bomba Estereo. The single is the third track released from a special “deluxe version” of the album, “Buen Pez” released today on Universal Music México.
Caloncho finishes the year with a Latin Grammy nomination for his previous album, Malvadisco and a tour in Latin America and Spain. The new single, “Regalo” is accompanied by a new visual, the song follows the release of the two previous tracks, “Post Quimica” and “Bien Al Puerco” feat. Sabina.
“I started to compose, “Regalo” a few years ago. I kept thinking about the idea and recorded some demos with different versions, but I didn’t get where I wanted to go, so I turned to Juan Pablo Vega as the producer. Then the songwriting process began with David Aguilar and Li Saumet. It has input from many and that’s more or less what the song is about, community love and coexistence.
I like that the song has a tropical approach, very calypso inspired with 3 chords and a relaxed dance cadence.
The song has also gone through different names, I thought it could be called Amémonos, because it talks about that, about not accumulating affection and love, which by the way is the programming of life, the vital energy for everything. It talks about giving what you have to give and letting what life has for you arrive. A virtuous circle of affection,” comments Caloncho about the new single.
The album, “Buen Pez” features endless collaborations, given its own nature of collective effusiveness. The deluxe version includes two additional collaborations. “I worked in complete freedom with friends, artists, musicians and producers that I love and admire, with who I discovered a super diverse world where sounds, genres and themes coexist magically and manage to connect in the same direction,” says the artist.
Caloncho will continue his tour in 2023 throughout the United States and will kick-off on March 22 in Tucson, AZ.
