Omar Apollo stuns the NPR office with his Tiny Desk debut performance, bringing the culture and leaving everyone with some life advice.
Apollo was asked to open NPR’s “El Tiny” for Latin Heritage Month leading the all-star Latinx lineup including Carin León, Girl Ultra, Trueno, Jessie Reyez, Susana Baca, Tokischa, Carla Morrison and Farruko. Omar performed “En El Olvido” (accompanied by Mariachi Lindas), fan favorite “Evergreen,” “Petrified,” and “Endlessly” from his highly acclaimed debut album IVORY.
This month, Omar has seen his song “Evergreen” skyrocket with over 7 million global streams and taking a life of its own on TikTok with over 103 thousand video creations and 145 million views. “Evergreen” has also made its way to #55 on Spotify US Top 200 Chart, #65 on Apple Music Top Songs Chart, and #6 on Apple Music Top Songs – Pop Chart. Continuing a very exciting month, Omar will also be performing this Friday, September 15th on Good Morning America with his debut morning show performance. All this on the heels of a recent MTV Video Music Award nomination and being featured on Barack Obama’s Summer 2022 playlist.
Later this fall, you can catch Omar on his upcoming fall 2022 Prototype Tour dates. The 22-date tour will see stops at the illustrious Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, sold-out show at Brooklyn’s Kings Theatre and the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, among others.
