A few hours ago it was confirmed that the actor Robbie Coltrane, who gave life to the iconic character of Harry Potter, Rubeus Hagrid, died at the age of 72 for reasons that are still unknown.

The one in charge of revealing the unfortunate news was her representative Belinda Wright, who reported that Coltrane died in a hospital near Falkirk, Scotland.

Falkirk highlighted several qualities of the actor, among which he was quite intelligent and very ingenious, and thanked his power for having worked hand in hand with him.

“For me personally, I will remember him as a loyal and abiding customer. As well as being a wonderful actor, he was forensically intelligent, brilliantly resourceful, and after 40 years of being proud to be called his agent, I will miss him.”

On that occasion, the actor expressed that “The legacy of the films is that my children’s generation will show them to their children. So we could be seeing it in 50 years, easy. I won’t be there, sadly, but Hagrid will be.”

The actor will also be remembered for his participation as Valentin Dmitrovich Zukovsky in the ‘James Bond’ movies and as Dr. Eddie “Fitz” Fitzgerald in the ‘Cracker’ series.

The actor’s death was announced by Belinda Wright, his agent, who explained that the death occurred in a hospital near Falkirk, in Scotland.

Wright did not provide details about the actor’s cause of death; however, she stated that the actor’s sister, mother and children were grateful for the “diplomacy and care” of the medical staff who were in charge of Coltrane at the Forth Valley Royal Hospital.

Lastly, the statement called for respect for the privacy of Robbie’s family during this loss.

Colleagues says goodbye to the actor

Also a British actor Stephen Fry was one of the first to speak out about the pain caused by Coltrane’s death. On his Twitter he wrote: “I met Robbie Coltrane almost exactly 40 years ago. I felt awe/terror/love/shock all at the same time. Such depth, power and talent – funny enough to cause hiccups and honks as we made our first TV show, ‘Alfresco’. Farewell, old friend. We will miss you terribly.”
