In Latin America, the way in which season 9 of Chicago PD has reached us is different from the United States and other countries, so this content may contain spoilers. In the episode, titled “Still Water”, these are the most relevant details and it seems that it will have a fundamental subplot for Upton.
The synopsis of the episode reads: While out for a run, Upton witnesses a horrible car accident and risks her own life to save the passengers. After speaking with the victims, the team must help locate the man responsible for the brutal hit-and-run accident.
Chicago P.D. presents the most risky episode of Tracy Spiridakos so far
While it certainly sounds like an impressive moment, the description of the episode doesn’t give us the full picture. At least, that’s what actress Tracy Spiridakos and Chicago PD showrunner Gwen Sigan have suggested in recent interviews when asked about these scenes.
During a conversation with TV Line, Spiridakos said that the episode ranks at level 10 in terms of importance and that “the stakes are high” considering the impact it will have on her character. Furthermore, the actress stated, “Hailey has a really crazy episode that makes me excited. There is a very intense case and Hailey is extremely motivated to solve it.”
Given the revolving-door approach the Chicago Police Department has taken with its stories in Season 9, it makes sense that Upton would be the next to take a narrative approach. She has been a good partner being almost imperceptible and in the last few episodes, which have been largely about Atwater (LaRoyce Hawkins) and Voight (Jason Beghe), her position has been in support of the team without a moment’s hesitation. /p>
Upton finds herself in a somewhat different situation, since she was about to be arrested by the FBI and see how her commitment to Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer) crumbled under the weight of his lie. It will be fascinating to see how her character acclimates in this chapter and if she is able to sustain her testimony so as not to end her marriage to Halstead.
Gwen Sigan told TV Line that the episode will be one of the most ambitious in PD history. “It’s been one of the most ambitious episodes we’ve done on the show so far, especially from a production standpoint,” she added. “I can’t wait to see what our director Chad [Saxton] and our team accomplish, and to see Tracy in this one.”
We’re not sure where Upton’s run-in with the car accident will lead, but given the hype both the star and showrunner are stirring up, we can’t wait to find out.
