At an event that brought together the best of the galactic universe, Star Wars Celebration 2025 stormed the Makuhari Messe Convention Center in Tokyo from April 18 to 20 with style, excitement, and exclusive previews. Thousands of fans witnessed a parade of talent and filmmakers sharing revealing details about Lucasfilm‘s upcoming productions, setting the stage for a year packed with adventures on Disney+.
With an audience of over 9,000 people, the event kicked off with an extended look at the second season of Andor, the award-winning galactic drama returning on April 22. Creator Tony Gilroy, alongside executive producer and star Diego Luna, took the stage joined by Sanne Wohlenberg and a stellar cast including Genevieve O’Reilly, Adria Arjona, Kyle Soller, Denise Gough, and Alan Tudyk. According to Lucasfilm, attendees enjoyed an emotional recap of season one, an exclusive screening of the first episode of the new season, and an unseen preview of what’s to come. Each received a commemorative collector’s poster.
War, betrayal, and rebellion: Andor enters its final chapter
Set five years before the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, the second and final season of Andor promises a dramatic escalation in Cassian Andor’s journey. In Tony Gilroy’s words, this new installment shows “the moment when war ceases to be an idea and becomes a necessity.” The conflict intensifies, pushing every character to their limit, with political intrigue, betrayals, and moral dilemmas that reflect the harsh reality of the Rebel Alliance.
The narrative will be structured in four arcs of three episodes each, released weekly on Disney+. Diego Luna commented that this format allows them to “deeply explore each emotional stage of the protagonist and his surroundings.” The series maintains its somber and mature tone—widely celebrated by critics—which sets Andor apart within the vast Star Wars ecosystem.

Ahsoka and the return of the Jedi legacy
Another highlight of the day was the appearance of Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau, who, along with Rosario Dawson and Hayden Christensen, offered an intimate look at Ahsoka. During the panel, they showcased never-before-seen photos from the first season and shared concept art from the second, which will begin production next week.
The biggest surprise came with the confirmation of actor Rory McCann taking on the role of Baylan Skoll, a character originally portrayed by the late Ray Stevenson. According to Lucasfilm, this recasting aims to honor the actor’s legacy while opening new narrative paths for the character. The emotional bond between Dawson and Christensen, playing Ahsoka Tano and Anakin Skywalker respectively, was evident in a touching exchange that celebrated the saga’s lasting impact.
A galaxy of bricks and nostalgia: LEGO Star Wars returns
To wrap up the day on a joyful and nostalgic note, Ahmed Best announced a new animated miniseries: LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild Galaxy – Pieces of the Past, set to premiere on September 19. In this four-part adventure, characters like Sig Greebling and Darth Dev will join forces with Jedi Bob, Yesi Scala, and Servo to face a rising threat in the far reaches of the LEGO Star Wars universe.
The original voice cast includes Gaten Matarazzo, Tony Revolori, Marsai Martin, and Bobby Moynihan, with a special appearance by Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker. Also joining are Ashley Eckstein as LEGO BrickHeadz Ahsoka Tano and Ben Schwartz as Jaxxon. Written by Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit, and directed by Chris Buckley, this production delivers a vibrant, family-friendly experience that connects generations of fans.
The day made it clear that Lucasfilm remains committed to storytelling and visual excellence, balancing drama, action, and humor in offerings that span both serious canon and playful interpretations. With series that expand the franchise’s horizons and celebrate its legacy, the big question remains: which of these stories will become fans’ next favorite?
