The Mexican singer-songwriter, Caloncho received a Latin Grammy nomination today for his latest album, ‘Malvadisco’ in the category, “Best Singer Songwriter Album” for the 23rd Annual Latin Grammy Awards.
“When I decided to record this album”, says Caloncho, “I thought of pieces that had a very honest and genuine theme, exploring diverse personal situations, as well as some interpretations that I have recently made of life. Over time I realized that they weren’t as festive as the songs I had written before, but they consolidated a conceptual axis closer to emotions than sensations”, comments Caloncho about the album.
By working this way, Caloncho built what is perhaps his most ambitious album to date, ‘Malvadisco’, which not only has the power to serve as a testimony to the pandemic stage we are experiencing, but also an evolutionary step within the career of the singer-songwriter, who dared to try new genres and production tools, a fact that led him to become a fan favorite and media darling to specialized critics.
With this nomination, Caloncho is positioned as one of the best composers of his generation, as well as an icon for music in Spanish of the 21st century.
The 23rd Latin Grammy Awards will be broadcast live on Univision from the Michelob ULTRA Arena at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino on Thursday, November 17, 2022 in Las Vegas Nevada.
