Almost 15 years have passed since Ximena Sariñana released her first album, “Mediocre,” which includes hits like, “Vidas Paralelas.” The album was highly-praised and received two Latin GRAMMY nominations and one American. Before venturing into music, Ximena Sariñana had demonstrated her passion for acting, that led her to roles on the small screen that continue to be a reference for some, such as cult classic, “Amarte Duele.”
Sariñana was often the subject of mockery, memes and comparisons at the beginning of her career. The singer-songwriter took each of those lessons as a source of inspiration to create “Diva”, a song that is included her fifth studio album that was released last year and that will remind everyone who listens to her a little of what she has lived through over the years.
Faithful to her pop sound that she dominates, as well as her black sense of humor, Ximena Sariñana turned each and everyone of those comments into a song that both her fans, as well as some critics, will surely enjoy, thanks to its catchy chorus, references to her career and the touch that only someone like her can create through music. Sariñana invited the talented and charismatic singer and actress, Tessa Ia on the track, who besides sharing a great friendship with her, understood like few others what she wanted to convey in each of her verses.
The video for the song “Diva” was released this week and along with its powerful lyrics the new visual will transport us to a trip through time with nineties references, a casual attitude and a colorful party that will make us feel as if we were transported into those years. The video was produced by MOLO and directed by none other than Carlos González Sariñana, director and screenwriter who directed Ximena in her first music video as a solo artist in the song “Como Soy,” which was part of the soundtrack for the film, “Niñas Mal,” and who understood the vision of the singer for the video.
Ximena Sariñana surprised fans with a slew of guest cameos in the new video from artists who also wanted to show-off their “Diva” side. Friends joining Ximena Sariñana in the quirky video includes, Caloncho, Jay de la Cueva, Chimo, Esteman, Majo Aguilar, Paty Cantú, Gil Cerezo, Marian Ruzzi and Rojstar, making the party we see on screen an explosion of fun.
Ximena Sariñana continues adding dates to her tour, “Amor Adolescente”, which will continue during 2022 and 2023, and is also currently working on new music.
