The new version of “Sad But True” by MIS + La Perla + Gera MX can be heard today on all digital platforms
Who better to give an update to a song than Mexican Institute of Sound? Camilo Lara’s project has always been characterized by being diverse, by going beyond the conventional musical boundaries. A life full of songs, artists, cultures from around the world, have given him the necessary tools and knowledge for the music he creates.
During his career he has remixed for the Beastie Boys, Beck, Morrissey, Run The Jewels, Interpol, Placebo or the great Tony Allen … now Mexican Institute of Sound gives a fresh new update to Metallica’s classic, ‘Sad But True’ featuring Gera MX and La Perla Bogotá.

Gera MX is one of the most important rappers on the Mexican scene. He previously collaborated with Christian Nodal on the hit single, ‘Botella Tras Botella’ that reached the Billboard Hot 100, becoming the first Regional Mexican song to do so.
And La Perla Bogotá brings a diverse mixture of cumbia, merengue, champeta, bullerengue, porro and beatbox. The group is made up of four women who joined forces to combine their talents in 2014.
The classic song, “Sad But True” comes to light in 2021 in its own right thanks to each artists talent and revitalizes the energy and immediately sounds like a hit from our times without losing the essence that made it great by Metallica.
