A sneak peek of Law & Order: SVU episode 8 showing Amanda Rollins in a wedding dress is giving fans an idea of what will happen to her character in her final appearance on the series.

Law & Order: SVU will drop one of its oldest actresses, the beloved Kelli Giddish, who since season 12 has played Detective Amanda Rollins on the NBC crime drama. Her departure took everyone by surprise, but apparently it will not be so traumatic according to what the series has been reporting since the first episodes of season 24.

On Law & Order: SVU season 24 episode 7 that premiered last Thursday, Dominick Carisi (Peter Scanavino) announced to his future wife, Amanda Rollins, that his college lecture had been so successful that he was being offered a permanent position as a professor in that house of studies.

Although Rollins was surprised and insisted that she never said that she wanted to leave the SVU, she also didn’t argue when Carisi asked her in Law & Order: SVU episode 7 to think it over before making any major decisions. Also, both Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and Fin (Ice T) started jokingly calling her a teacher and she didn’t seem to care.

Confirmation that her decision could be favorable for the new position as a teacher came with the preview of the late fall episode of Law & Order: SVU in which Amanda Rollins appears dressed in white as a pretty bride, entering what we believe is a courthouse, accompanied by her dear friend Olivia Benson and detective Fin Tutuola.

Kelli Giddish in a wedding dress seals her finale in Law & Order: SVU

The promo, just released after Thursday’s episode of Law & Order: SVU, begins with Carisi asking his girlfriend if he broke the news to Olivia. Next, we see Amanda Rollins in a white dress, holding flowers and looking quite happy. Then, as Olivia hugs her friend and co-worker, Fin asks the captain if she’s going to cry. Detective Velasco is also present. The episode is expected to air on Thursday, December 8 on NBC.

In August, Kelli Giddish confirmed rumors of her imminent departure from Law & Order: SVU after playing Rollins for 12 years. In her opinion, giving life to Amanda Rollins on screen has been one of the greatest joys and privileges of her life. “I have been very fortunate to be a part of the Law & Order family for the past 12 years. There is simply no other character on TV quite like Rollins. She has grown and changed, and so have I,” said the actress in a moving message posted on social media.
